About AMS Flight
AMS Flight is a worldwide operating and EASA authority certified composite aircraft manufacturer with Aircraft, Service and Development departments.
The roots of AMS Flight factory reach back to the year 1978 and since that time Elan Flight and AMS Flight already manufactured over 1,100 composite sailplanes and aircraft.
For more than 30 years the people behind the factory, now of AMS Flight, have been professionals in sport aviation since the first DG-100 ELAN, a 15 meter span single-seat sailplane, rolled through the Begunje facility production line, built by a selected team of Elan employees, started in Bruchsal, Germany. Later almost the complete DG-500 ELAN tandem glider was developed in the Begunje factory, than continued to all of these gliders of the type serial production, single piece test flights and deliveries after the final inspection.
The company named AMS Flight Ltd. was established in 1999 to continue the existing aircraft development and production and took over the entire ELAN Flight factory division of Elan.
The company’s manufacturing facilities were, as from the early beginning, located at Begunje (inside the Elan plant), in the northwest part of European Union, state of Slovenia, close to the borders with Austria and Italy from where started also the complete experiences and practices of the today’s Slovenian modern light weight composite aircraft industry. In the year 2010 AMS Flight reorganized and it changed the Begunje facility location. Office was opened on the local sport airfield Lesce-Bled, production facility in the Zapuze industrial park and partner companies were contracted to co-operate by AMS Flight programs.
On the 14th of November 2001 AMS Flight took over the German Technoflug production program, sales and service of the Carat touring motor-glider and based on this positive decision AMS Flight started new vision and standards in aviation. Carat was designed and certified in Germany for economical long range cruising flights and for impressive standard class glider soaring level, as “two in one”.
Today AMS Flight holds, redesign and develop own aircraft and its systems. AMS Flight most recent project is the new aviation standard and philosophy of Magnus aircraft family. Magnus, a two-seat, side by side “Carat” and ULA & Light Sport Class motor-glider is the AMS Flight new generation project developed from the conceptual design drafted by AMS Flight. Tandem two seat “Carat” became an interesting idea. AMS Flight is committed to bring progressive designs, modern materials, environment friendly energy and safety improvements to the pilot and industry community.
AMS Flight is highly experienced plastics composite structures and sport aircraft systems specialist. Especially the carbon, aramid and glass aircraft composite products and their manufacturing methods require extremely precise manual work where attention to details is paramount. Every bubble, every drop of excess resin, over every millimeter of 100 laminated components per sailplane, for instance, are and shall be factory specialists handed with care, monitored and controlled.
The AMS Flight factory's expertise in advanced composite technology is being used and also Slovenian government sponsored to develop products for wind electric generators of 15 kW and 40 kW and for other modern composite applications.
